From viral sensation to crypto queen, who could’ve predicted the current trajectory of Haliey “Hawk Tuah” Welch?
From a simple vox pop on the Tim & Dee TV YouTube channel to hosting her own podcast, having Elon Musk in her DMs and launching her own AI-powered dating app, Welch has done a lot in the past six months.
In perhaps the strangest turn, she’s launched her own cryptocurrency with a memecoin. In this world of Dogecoin and Coinye, memecoins can get a little confusing and more than a little risky. Now, Hawk Tuah Girl has been accused of pumping and dumping her memecoin, with some even suggesting she could go to jail.
Despite only launching on December 4 and soaring to a market cap of $500 million, Welch’s $HAWK memecoin collapsed within 20 minutes. Some say that investors were losing money before the memecoin even launched, with accusations that token insiders kept 97% of the stock and then started actively selling it off.
As well as large investors ‘sniping’ $HAWK, others speculate that the memecoin was part of a ‘rug pulling’ scam where developers bail from a currency and its prices plummet.
Things got heated in an X space, where crypto journalist Stephen Findeisen, aka Coffeezilla, asked who made money from $HAWK and how much Welch made from it. While Hawk Tuah Girl stayed quiet, the overHere account behind the memecoin said: “There was no rug pull because we didn’t pull a rug. I don’t know what you’re trying to say, it’s not true. That’s defamation.”
An angered Coffeezilla said ‘do the math’ and claims someone must’ve profited from $HAWK’s flash sale. He concluded: “This is the worst tokenomics I’ve ever seen and it is a scam.”
Welch only chimed in to say, “Anywho, I’m going to go to bed and I’ll see you guys tomorrow.”
The overHere account reiterated that Welch hasn’t profited from a ‘pump and dump’, writing: “Haliey’s Team has sold absolutely no tokens whatsover.
“Haliey’s Team has 10% allocation which is locked for 1 year and vested over 3 years. The rest of the tokens are distributed into the different wallets as according to the tokenomics.”
Although unverified, a screenshot is doing the rounds suggesting that someone put their life savings into $HAWK and has lost out. There are numerous similar posts, but it’s hard to tell who actually invested big and lost out.
Replying to the news, someone said: “Burn the supply you’re holding, use the funds your dev dumped to support the chart, apologize, and start working seriously. That’s your best shot at turning this around. Otherwise, pack your bags for prison, we’ll see you in 10 – 15 years.”
Another said, “How many hawks can she tuah while trying to pick up the soap?” and a third joked, “Straight $TUAH prison!”
Welch maintains that she tried to stop snipers, but with crypto investor Scooter sharing proof that he’s filed legal action and encouraging others to do so, it doesn’t sound like this story is going to go away anytime soon.

Things could be getting serious for the Hawk Tuah girl, after a professional lawyer reveals the charges that she could potentially incur if allegations facing the launch of her ‘meme coin’ are true.
It’s certainly been a whirlwind since Hawk Tuah girl, otherwise known by her real name Haliey Welch, rose to viral fame through a TikTok and YouTube interview.
She has since gone on to disavow the creators that thrust her into the social media limelight, and has taken advantage of the attention placed on her to start a successful podcast, launch her own AI dating app, and even step into the world of cryptocurrency.

It’s within that last step, however, that things seem to have gone downhill, as she now faces allegations of security fraud, deceit, and insider trading, as the coin crashed shortly after going live.
The coin, named ‘$HAWK’, launched with a market cap of $490 million but quickly dropped to just $41 million within 20 minutes of launch. Many have claimed that this was a classic case of a ‘pump and dump’ scheme, where the creator of the coin sells off all their stock to start, causing the price to dramatically drop.
Welch has denied this accusation in a post on X (formerly Twitter), claiming: “Team hasn’t sold one token and not 1 KOL was given 1 free token.”
Data has alleged that there were more than 80 wallet addressed that had not purchased tokens, and 96% of the supply was controlled by the team and sent out to these individual smaller wallets.
Many have called for her to get jail time for this, and while the internet is certainly full of jokes, those accusations might be closer to reality than you might expect, at least according to one lawyer.
As explained by Yuriy Brisov, a partner at Digital and Analogue Partners law firm, Welch could face charges of security fraud from the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and also money laundering or wire fraud from the Department of Justice (DOJ).
Brisov detailed, in an interview with the Coin Telegraph:
“In the context of cryptocurrencies, the legal framework is still evolving. If Welch’s team possessed non-public information about the token’s launch or had pre-arranged strategies to sell significant portions of the supply, leading to the token’s price collapse, such actions could be scrutinized under fraud or market manipulation statutes.”

There has been no announcement of an investigation from the relevant authorities just yet, but if one does arise and the allegations placed against Welch and her team are true, she could be in serious trouble.
She is far from the first social media star to have been involved in an alleged crypto scam though, as huge names like MrBeast and Logan Paul among others have faced similar accusations.

Is there anything this girl can’t do? In a year that’s given us Brat summer, a jumping Elon Musk, Anthony Ammirati showing his own take on the ‘pole’ vault at the Olympics, and Glasgow’s Willy Wonka Experience, Haliey “Hawk Tuah Girl” Welch has stood out from the crowd.
While some still question how Welch became famous, she’s holding onto those 15 seconds of fame with both hands and really spitting on that ‘thang.’
Keen to show she’s got a business head on her, Welch has announced she’s launching her own memecoin.
With Bitcoin breaking records and hitting its all-time high, cryptocurrency continues to boom in a post-election world. Now Welch is getting in on the action.
Posting on X and revealed during an episode of her Talk Tuah podcast with Mark Cuban, Welch announced her official $HAWK memecoin.
Proving there are any number of puns you can make from ‘hawk tuah,’ Welch has partnered with Web3 launchpad and platform overHere, hoping to ‘redefine’ memecoins and bring in a new consumer crypto.
Hyping the releases of $HAWK, Welch posted on X, saying: “Becoming a meme has been an incredible journey. I love making memes and connecting with people worldwide. With $HAWK, I want to bring that same joy and community spirit into the crypto space.”
Saying that she knows a lot of her fans will be new to crypto, Welch wants to make the onboarding process as easy as possible. Free $HAWK tokens will be distributed to her followers via allowlist campaigns, while others can get them through meme and NFT communities – yes, NFTs are apparently still a thing.
If you want a piece of Hawk Tuah Girl’s memecoin pie, the $HAWK token will start trading on Solana on December 4. This gives fans time to join the allowlist and hopefully make for a smooth launch.

The move has proved divisive, with many taking to the comments to call her out. One skeptic said: “No one saw this coming. The whole ecosystem is shocked and is very very excited for this.* *This is complete sarcasm.”
Another grumbled, “Ah sh*t we lost her to the meme coin bros,” and a third said, “We are definitely in a bull market with pump and dumps left and right.”
Despite her naysayers, Welch has previously shown an interest in cryptocurrency. She spoke at both Nashville’s Bitcoin Conference and Korea Blockchain Week, apparently making connections with key figures in the community.
This isn’t Welch’s only venture to branch out from being TikTok famous and having her face slapped on merch. She’s also showing her tech credentials by launching an AI-powered dating app known as Pookie Tools. Love or loathe the Hawk Tuah phenomenon, it doesn’t look like Haliey Welch is going anywhere just yet.

Hailey Welch AKA Hawk Tuah Girl has finally broken her silence in a leaked episode of her podcast after the controversy surrounding her cryptocoin angered fans a few weeks ago,
If anyone was wondering what happened to Hailey “Hawk Tuah Girl” Welch, it’s fair to say the viral sensation has been lying low for a while. There’s something ironic about the fact the most recent video on her YouTube channel is called “How to avoid getting canceled”, but in the aftermath of the cryptocurrency catastrophe, Welch is seemingly here to set the record straight.
Welch originally found fame in June 2024 when she took over the internet with her “spit on that thang” catchphrase. Instead of getting her 15 seconds of fame as a TikTok trend, Welch tried to expand her horizons with a podcast, dating app, and short-lived attempt to ‘coin’ the meme coin market.
Hawk Tuah Girl announced $HAWK in November 2024, and in a post-election boom where Bitcoin was soaring, it looked like Welch was onto a winner. Of course, the recent discourse around Donald and Melania Trump has shown that many think of meme coins as little more than gambling.

The latest episode of Welch’s ‘Talk Tuah’ podcast has leaked (YouTube / Talk Tuah)
Welch found this out the hard way, with her being accused of misleading investors and promoting a ‘pump and dump’ cryptocurrency scheme that some people say lost their life savings.
Hawk Tuah and her team botched the aftermath, her Wikipedia was hijacked, and she’s now remembered for her new catchphrase, “Anywho, I’m going to go to bed and I’ll see you guys tomorrow,” after she dipped out of a discussion about what went wrong.
Now, a leaked episode of her Talk Tuah podcast has made it online, where Welch lays it all out for FaZe Clan’s Richard “Ricky” Bengston. Better known as Banks, the FaZe Clan founder says, “It’s all gonna be OK,” but reminds her she’ll likely be haunted by this for the rest of her days.
Welch maintains that she was sold the idea of $HAWK being a long-term coin that was going to “change the way everybody thinks about crypto.”
As well as saying her boyfriend (Pookie) lost money in $HAWK, a genuinely sorry-looking Welch says: “I feel really bad for all the people that got affected by it. And it just didn’t go the way I planned.”
In terms of what went wrong, she says she made the mistake of trusting a ‘friend of a friend’. Adding that the guy was ‘a little bit weird’ on the day that $HAWK launched, she admitted: “I probably should have looked into him a little bit more.”
Banks points to how an apparent $125,000 has been made from $HAWK, suggesting that Welch can make things right by market buying back the meme coin and locking it up as a gesture of goodwill. Still, she added: “I dunno, I’m scared to touch that coin.”
The podcast points to how Logan Paul was caught in his own crypto scandal, but as they remind Welch, he tried to make it good by paying it back.
Unfortunately for Welch, things are set to go from bad to worse. Banks said he had strict stipulations before agreeing to do the talk, namely that the video couldn’t be leaked ahead of time in hopes of preventing market manipulation.
Summing up the entire debacle, Banks posted: “Poor girl, it’s a wonder how she found herself in this position in the first place.”

There’s blood in the water and the sharks are circling, as it looks like Haliey “Hawk Tuah Girl” Welch’s roller coaster of 2024 is about to end on a low. After finding fame for her viral ‘spit on that thang’ vox pop in June 2024, Welch quickly used her newfound fame to branch out into a variety of new endeavors. Although she says the YouTubers that made her famous have blocked her on ‘everything’, that hasn’t stopped Welch from making the most of her Hawk Tuah brand with everything from a hit podcast to an attempt at getting into cryptocurrency.
Unfortunately for Welch, her $HAWK memecoin has already been branded “one of the most miserable, horrible launches I’ve ever seen” by crypto expert Coffeezilla.
As Welch copy and pastes a generic response and the overHere team behind $HAWK try to bat away accusations it was a ‘pump and dump’ scam, there’s already a stack of legal filings and even questions about whether Hawk Tuah Girl could be facing time behind bars.

There don’t seem to be many in her corner, and taking the current discourse one step further, influencer, boxer, and OnlyFans model Astrid Wett is lacing up her gloves. In an irate post on X, Wett wrote: “Hailey Welch is actually a disgusting person.”
“She got famous with absolutely 0 talent. Ducked a boxing fight against me. And now lost me £50k through her rug pull crypto coin .”
Wett concludes by saying: “She needs to be arrested.”
There are numerous reports of people investing in Welch’s $HAWK and losing big, with someone else writing: “Hi @HalieyWelchX My $35,000 that I purchased of $Hawk is now $2,000 after 10 minutes of buying. I am a huge fan of Hawk Tuah but you took my life savings.”
